Highlights! 'Black Spartan' Turns In Brutal Debut KO

David Martinez made the most of his official Octagon debut earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 29, 2025) at UFC Mexico City LIVE on ESPN+ from inside Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, as the former Contender Series winner laid waste to Saimon Oliveira with a brutal first-round TKO (knee and punches).
Despite never competing under the bright lights of the Octagon before, Martinez was a huge favorite to walk away with win. That's likely due to his knockout ability and the fact that Oliveira was competing for the first time since dropping a knockout loss to Daniel Marcos all the way back in Jan. 2023.
Oliveira looked out of sorts from the opening bell as he was unable to land much of anything. Martinez was simply quicker and more polished on the feet. This allowed "Black Spartan" to land a beautiful step back right hand that caught Oliveira flush and staggered him. Martinez moved in for the kill and landed a nasty knee inside. Oliveira fell backwards, his head bounced off the canvas, and Martinez piled on a few more shots before the referee finally stepped in.
Check out the final moments in the above video player.
Martinez, 26, is now 12-1 in his professional career with 10 of those wins coming by way of knockout. This was a debut that went as planned, but the UFC's bantamweight division is an unforgiving shark tank full of killers. Martinez will have to show more wrinkles to his game before fight fans completely buy in.
