Former undisputed UFC bantamweight champion, Holly Holm has revealed she is weighing up both a potential return to professional boxing, as well as the continuation of her mixed martial arts career in a mooted move to the GFL (Global Fight League).

Holm, a former undisputed bantamweight champion and prior featherweight title challenger during her lengthy tenure in the UFC, was handed her official release from the Dana White-led promotion earlier this week, upon request as she retained a number of fights on her deal.

Sidelined since last April, Alquerque striking veteran, Holly Holm most recently suffered a one-sided second round rear-naked choke submission loss to surging contender, Kayla Harrison on the preliminary card of UFC 300.

And off the back of her departure from the UFC, boxing Hall of Fame inductee, Holm confirmed plans to potentially compete in the squared circle one last time — as well as in the cage.

“I know that I’m not going to fight forever, but I still want a couple more, and I had been in a little bit of talks just trying to see if anything would happen, and I did want to be able to dance in the UFC octagon one more time, but it just didn’t seem like it was something that was going to be promised, and so I did have two fights left on the contract, but, you know, that’s not always promised, and I didn’t want to wait around forever either, so I want to see what other options there are,” Holly Holm told Ariel Helwani for Uncrowned.

“There’s no negative thoughts, no hate, or anything like that. I’m super, super thankful for my entire journey with the UFC and all the opportunities that they’ve given me and being able to fight for a title, and I just, I’m super thankful for the journey, and I’m not done.”

“Maybe I go to boxing,” Holly Holm explained. “I know there’s a lot of talk with GFL, so I’m just leaving my options open. When I boxed, I fought at 140, 147, and 154. I never fought at 135 in boxing, so sometimes I feel like it’s unfinished business. Do I go back? And the people that have, you know, belts at that weight class are Serrano and Taylor, so sometimes it’s like, is that unfinished business? Because that’s most of my fights in MMA. I mean, majority of them were at 135, but I never fought at 135 in boxing, so who knows?
