Darren Till’s 12-fight UFC career was marred only by his late-career losses and some severe weight misses in the build-up to some of his welterweight fights.

Aptly nicknamed ‘The Gorilla’, Liverpool’s Till carried his giant frame into the UFC’s 170 lbs. welterweight division. At 6′ tall Till was around the average height for the division, but being thick-set meant the welterweight weight cut was always going to be a struggle.

Because of this, Till rounded off his MMA career as a middleweight, and now, he ventures into boxing, where he will take on influencer-boxer Anthony Taylor at 195 lbs. on January 18.

Darren Till shows off ripped physique ahead of Misfits Boxing debut

Before being booked against Taylor, Till was on set to face Tommy Fury in what could have been one of the biggest paydays of his career. While that fight didn’t materialize, Till may still be carrying this “big money” mindset into the Taylor fight, evidenced by his ripped physique a fortnight out from the night.

Without any further complications, this will be Till’s first big fight since his final UFC fight against Dricus Du Plessis in December 2022. He fought once before in exhibition boxing in a low-profile UAE match against Mohammad Mutie in July 2024, which he won by injury in the second round.

Darren Till blasts troll for mocking Misfits boxing match

In the comments of Till’s physique post, notorious MMA troll Dillon Danis jeered that Till had fallen from grace, “Six main events in the UFC to boxing Anthony Taylor,” he remarked.

Till was quick to reply, “Six main events in the UFC… say it again my friend. Say the words in which your name will never be said along side… six main events in the place you can’t get…”

MF & DAZN X Series 20 will be Till’s Misfits Boxing debut. Meanwhile, Danis was disqualified against Logan Paul for unsportsmanlike conduct on the Misfits ‘Prime Card’ in 2023, and hasn’t competed since.
