Dana White's first big heavyweight fight since launching TKO Boxing with Turki Alalshikh will see a monstrous 155lb gulf in weight.

Prior to inking his revolutionary new deal with the Saudi boxing boss, White has been a major advocate for Irish youngster Callum Walsh. The Cork native headlines at the Madison Square Garden Theater tomorrow night against Dean Sutherland, but all eyes appear to be on the heavyweight undercard.

Dubliner Thomas Carty, who was promised an American debut by White after he landed a KO at the 3Arena in September, has landed in New York on the UFC boss’s demand. He faces a gargantuan task in American knockout artist Dajuan Calloway, who tipped the scales at an unbelievable 409lb.

Dajuan Calloway weighs in 155lb heavier than Thomas Carty

At tonight’s weigh-ins for 360 Promotions’ big St Patrick’s weekend show, two heavyweights made waves as they took to the scales. Dajuan Calloway came in just over 409lb, while his rival Thomas Carty was just 255lb.

While 255lb at 6’4″ is by no means small for the weight class, Carty is an entire middleweight (or lightweight by MMA standards) smaller than his rival tomorrow night. The Irishman has knocked out all but one of his professional opponents, but faces a big challenge in New York.

Calloway is actually the shorter of the two by an inch, but is a whopping 155lb heavier after coming in at a career-highest 409lb. He already has another fight against unbeaten Gurgen Hovhannisyan booked for next month, and will be trying to avoid a suspension even if he does lose to Carty.

Dana White promised Thomas Carty his American debut

Back in September, Thomas Carty’s impressive knockout over Jonathan Exequiel Vergara completed a dream week that earned him a bonus and another booking from Dana White himself. The Dubliner sold hundreds of tickets and scored an explosive finish with multiple knockdowns in a card highlight.

White ultimately handed him a $5,000 bonus for the victory, and declared that he would have to bring him to Boston or New York for his next outing. And while Carty got out in Gibraltar on his manager Dillian Whyte’s undercard in December, the UFC boss kept his promise this weekend.

“We’ve got to get him to New York or Boston or Vegas, whatever we’re going to do next,” White told media after his win in Dublin. “We’re definitely bringing Carty somewhere, I don’t know what Tom [Loeffler, 360 Boxing’s promoter] is thinking but they do a great job of matchmaking.”
