Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor might be done competing in MMA, but he isn’t slowing down in his social media taunting.

Conor McGregor‘s long-awaited UFC comeback might not come to fruition after he recently teased retiring from MMA at a recent Bare Knuckle FC press conference. However, despite his combat sports career being put indefinitely on hold, McGregor still has the time to mock some of his strongest detractors.

McGregor hasn’t appeared in the UFC Octagon since injuring his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, almost four full years ago. He was slated to return at UFC 303 last June before withdrawing due to a toe injury ahead of his scheduled clash with Michael Chandler.

While McGregor is inactive in the cage, he remains active outside of it, particularly on his social media pages.

Conor McGregor doesn’t slow down UFC star taunts after recent retirement teases

Years removed from his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, tensions between McGregor and the UFC Hall of Famer remain thick and personal. The two have traded barbs from afar numerous times in recent years, with McGregor arguably crossing the line on several occasions.

In addition to his ongoing feud with Nurmagomedov, McGregor has taunted UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria and lightweight champ Islam Makhachev amidst recent fight teases. Makhachev is a top protege of Nurmagomedov stemming from their time growing up in Dagestan.

Topuria called out McGregor following his featherweight title win over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298. While there appeared to be mutual respect between the two sides, things quickly took a turn for the worse, including Topuria threatening McGregor if the two came face-to-face in public.

In a recent Instagram post, McGregor took shots at Nurmagomedov, Makhachev, and Topuria as he compared his UFC accolades with the three superstar fighters.

“3 little staph infections. #KOKINGMACGREGOR,” McGregor posted.

As of this writing, none of the three mentioned in the post has responded to McGregor’s taunts. Topuria and Makhachev could potentially fight later this year, and Nurmagomedov walked away from MMA in 2020.

Conor McGregor’s UFC comeback unlikely after four-year absence

McGregor was in brief talks to face Logan Paul in a boxing match before the UFC brass squashed negotiations. McGregor still has two fights left on his UFC contract, but it remains to be seen if he’ll fulfill his contractual obligations or request a formal release to pursue other combat ventures.

McGregor is looking to get back in the win column in MMA, if he decides to return, for the first time since a 2020 win over Donald Cerrone. After finishing Cerrone in the first round at UFC 246, McGregor lost back-to-back TKO finishes to Poirier in 2021.

Recently, McGregor has seemed more interested in a future fight in the Bare Knuckle FC ring, as opposed to a professional boxing or MMA comeback. McGregor also announced his Irish presidential campaign in a stunning crossover into politics.
