Cedric Doumbe called out Jake Paul for a mixed-rules fight last month, but wasn’t as keen to give him time of day last night in Dubai.

The French superstar and his boxing rival are both signed to PFL, with Paul threatening to make a debut in the cage for the last few years. Doumbe fights at MMA welterweight, which is much smaller than career-cruiserweight boxer Paul, but that didn’t stop him calling for a crossover bout in Lyon.

However, when asked by Bloody Elbow at last night’s Usman Nurmagomedov vs Paul Hughes fight at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, Doumbe didn’t seem as keen on the idea.

Back in December, Cedric Doumbe got in the PFL cage during the promotion’s European finals. There, he called for fights with ‘Lazy King’ Abdoul Abdouraguimov and most notably Jake Paul, whom he offered a mixed-rules bout.

"I know, I know, I know you guys want to see a real fight," Doumbe told a packed out crowd at the LDLC Arena. "But I need to get paid… Jake Paul, I would like to say you are a good fighter, but you aren't a good fighter.

"We can do it in France, we can do it in America. You are a big star in the US, I am a big star in France, let's get it done. First round boxing, second round MMA, whatever you want, you are getting knocked out."

And when asked last night in Dubai if he had a message for Paul after watching the fights, Doumbe simply replied: “Jake Paul?

Cedric Doumbe reveals plans for PFL return after tumultuous 2024

Last year, Doumbe suffered the first defeat of his professional career in what was supposed to be a massive homecoming, but in controversial fashion. He took on the unbeaten Baysangur ‘Baki’ Chamsoudinov at the Accor Arena, with the fight being stopped due to a splinter being found in his foot.

After that absurd finish, the standout kickboxer returned to action in May at the same venue against Jaleel Willis. The pair shared a bitter build-up over an America vs France feud, with Doumbe ultimately returning to the win column against the former LFA champ.

Speaking with Bloody Elbow on Saturday night, Doumbe noted that he expects to be back within “the next two-three months”. PFL will kick off their global season in April, but they are expected to start a bit earlier with their European shows.
