Daily horse racing tips

  • HAMILTON
    3.15: Aragon Castle 11/4 (1pt)
  • STRATFORD
    7.10: Matterhorn 8/11 (2pts)
    8.10: Nibras Gold 8/11 (1.5pts)
  • Trixie (1pt)

Aragon Castle

Aragon Castle was Nellie Leylax at Haydock and second again to Queen’s Reign last time out at Goodwood.

The former has really worked out form wise with the winner who went on to win again in a Class 2 handicap to Involvement, and has been upped 14lb since that win over Aragon Castle.

He has the chance to go well here with the three-year-old allowance, carrying 13lb less for instance, to Dutch Decoy.

William Buick doesn’t often get rides on Andrew Balding-trained horses, but they do tend to do well when combining.

Matterhorn

Got the better of three rivals over course and distance a couple of weeks ago, including the reopposing Parc d’Amour.

While that horse will be 4lb better off with the odds-on favourite, the gelding never quite looked like picking it up and as such, the Paul Nicholls-trained Matterhorn, should have this comfortably once more.

He made all and won going away in June, beating Boombawn in second, who claimed the minor places when overtaking the weakening Parc d’Amour in the final furlong.

That suggests Matterhorn could press matters further here, and with Harry Cobden on board, he’s likely to get this right tactically too to ensure the win.

Nibras Gold

Another odds-on favourite which can help go towards a decent straight win double.

Nibras Gold was always close up in his hurdle contests last season before going on a winter break.

He returned well on reappearance at Ffos Las to place second behind Bob Bob Ricard, which was also his first run over fences.

That bodes really well going forward for the season and has been waited with sufficiently for over a month to be seen again and wait for the ideal return to make his second chase start.

He does have a habit of coming second, placing second nine times from 22 races under rules.

Six of those came over hurdles and instantly went back to that over fences.

But the hope is that he has improvement to be made over fences, where he was only ever at the same kind of mark over hurdles, he’s only six and still has plenty of scope going forward.
