Glenn Maxwell hit a 122-metre six during the Big Bash League in Australia in 2025.

Professional cricket matches don’t always have the distances of sixes recorded. But more and more, this is being measured.

Here, we recall the biggest sixes recorded in the history of professional cricket around the world.

10. Chris Gayle – 116 metres

We’re probably as surprised as you that Gayle doesn’t feature higher on this list. The big-hitting West Indian walloped Indian spinner Yusuf Pathan for a 116-metre six during the 2010 T20 World Cup. The ball travelled out of the Kensington Stadium.

9. MS Dhoni – 118 metres

Dhoni’s short-arm jabbed sixes were characteristic and entertaining for the most part of his career for India at international level and the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. One such trademark punch yielded a 118-metre six against New Zealand in an ODI in 2009.

8. Yuvraj Singh – 119 metres

The world will remember Yuvraj for hitting England’s Stuart Broad for six sixes in one over during the 2007 T20 World Cup. None of those six were particularly big, though. But in the same tournament, this time against Australia, the Indian star clouted Brett Lee for a 119-metre six.

7. Mark Waugh – 120 metres

In 1997, the youngest of the famous Waugh brothers hit New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori for a 120-metre six at the WACA  – not a small ground by any means.

=4. Corey Anderson – 122 metres

Before embarking on an international career with the United States of America, Anderson played for New Zealand. In 2014, he hit Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami for a 122-metre six.

=4. Liam Livingstone – 122 metres

The year was 2021 and the opposition Pakistan, when Livingstone used the pace generated by Haris Rauf to good effect by carting him for a 122-metre six during a T20I at Headingley.

=4. Glenn Maxwell – 122 metres

Playing for the Melbourne Stars against the Melbourne Renegades in Big Bash League in 2025, Maxwell tucked into Kane Richardson for a 122-metre six at the Docklands Stadium.

3. Martin Guptill – 127 metres

Guptill retired from international cricket recently, but during his playing days was among the biggest hitters. In 2012, against South Africa, Guptill slapped Proteas left-arm seamer Lonwabo Tsotsobe for a 127-metre six.

2. Brett Lee – 143 metres

Lee was a batter, not a bowler, but could put in a few good hits down the order. He certainly did so in 2005, against the West Indies, sending the ball a full 143 metres from one wild willow wield.

1. Shahid Afridi – 153 metres

The record for the biggest six in professional cricket belongs to the Pakistan star. Afridi was playing against South Africa in 2013 and struck South Africa seamer Ryan McLaren a for a 153-metre six. Huge, indeed.
