Errol Spence is set to return to the ring for the first time since losing to Terence Crawford.

Spence has hit turbulence in his career, having lost to bitter rival Crawford in their undisputed title clash in July 2023, where he was brutally stopped.

‘The Truth’ hasn’t competed since that date, and has been linked with a whole host of names as he contemplates a move up in weight to 154lbs.

And it has been suggested that he will do exactly that, with ESPN reporting that he has agreed to a showdown with Sebastian Fundora for the WBC super-welterweight title.

The fight has yet to receive official details according to the report, but is being targeted to take place in October at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

Spence has fought at the venue twice in the past in wins over Mikey Garcia and Yordenis Ugas, so will be hoping to replicate his form on familiar turf.

Fundora is fresh from the back of a huge upset win over Tim Tszyu in a bloody battle which saw him claim the strap, and send his name propelling into new stardom.

Spence had stepped in the ring after the impressive win, and called for the clash insisting he is perfectly placed to become a two-weight world champion.

He said: “It’s time to get it on. He got a pretty good height, but we’ll see.

“We’ll break him down like we always do.”

It will be a stern examination of Spence’s credentials, given Fundora stands at a monstrous 6ft 5ins, which is an extremely large frame at this weight.

Spence is significantly smaller than his rival, and will be hoping to not meet the same fate as promising Australian star Tszyu.

It will be an interesting move, given former rival Crawford has chosen the exact same path to move to 154lbs.

‘Bud’ will look to maintain his undefeated record an become world champion at the weight, when he takes on Israil Madrimov on August 3.

Naturally if the pair both progress beyond their respective tests, a sequel will likely be proposed which could see a unification take place in the new division.

Spence and Crawford were set to meet in an all-American rematch earlier this year, but talks broke down.

The 34-year-old revealed that he had cataract surgery on a long-term eye condition which was caused by his car accident in October 2019.

He even attributed his damaging defeat to the pound-for-pound star to his eye condition.

Spence posted at the time: "It's been past due. s*** was covering my eye.

“Why [do] you think I got hit with so many jabs and hooks? Still a great performance by bro [Crawford]."
