Bret Hart is set to make history at this year’s Hall of Fame by becoming the first person to be a three-time Hall of Famer, with his match against Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 being inducted this year. Ahead of the ceremony, Bret Hart has now revealed when he found out about the honor.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani, Bret Hart was asked when he found out about the honor. Hart mentioned that he learned a few months ago that it was going to happen, but he wasn't certain it would until it actually did. Then, just a few days ago, the announcement was made, which confirmed that it was really going to happen for him.
Bret Hart expressed that it was a big honor and something he was very proud of, especially reflecting on the match and the work he did with Steve Austin. When asked if he thought it was the best match, he said he didn't think there was a better match.
“I found out a few months ago it was gonna happen, but you never know if it's actually going to happen until it does. Then I just found out a few days ago when the announcement came out, so that kind of verified that it was really going to happen for me. It's a big honor, I'm really quite proud of that, especially that match, the work I had with Steve Austin. If you ask me if I thought it was a better match, I don't think there's a better match.”
On March 28, WWE shocked fans by introducing a new Hall of Fame wing called Immortal Moments, with the iconic WrestleMania 13 match between Steve Austin and Bret Hart being the first to be inducted. The 1997 match is still regarded as one of the greatest double turns in wrestling history, and nearly 30 years later, it's finally getting the recognition it deserves.
