Jeff Jarrett isn’t thinking too much about his final opponent, he’s just making the most of opportunities when they are presented to him.

Jarrett recently spoke with WrestleZone about signing his final talent contract with AEW this year. Jarrett previously said that he evaluates his career each December, and contemplated retirement this year. He eventually re-signed with AEW (thanks in part to some advice from some colleagues), but tells WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard that he didn’t approach his final contract with any demands or expectations in mind. He does, however, plan to take whatever opportunity he earns and make sure the fans get their money’s worth.

Jeff Jarrett on signing his final AEW contract

"I consulted with quite a few folks and just tried to get my mind right and mindset like, how do I wanna approach it. And I really got back to the very very basics, how I got into this business. Because back then, you don't negotiate dates and all this. And I just… Pardon the pun, but I said I'm going 'all in.' I've always been that way," Jarrett explained.

Jarrett understands how talent negotiations have changed, citing his own time running a wrestling promotion.

"I said, 'Man, I'm going to go all the way with this.' It’s going to be my last talent contract. Who knows how long it’s really gonna last because it’s professional wrestling. But at the end of the day, I'm shooting for the stars," Jarrett proclaimed. "And I said in Asheville on day 1, January 1st of this year, I may fall flat on my face in this last run, Last Outlaw ride, if you will. But I'm going to go out in a lot of ways, the way I came in. Reckless abandon, high risk, high reward and really trying to do everything I possibly can."

Jeff Jarrett is living with no regrets

Jarrett says he’s not sure he can sleep soundly if he didn’t do everything in his power to give his best. He also knows that the fans are the most important part of pro wrestling, and doesn’t want to leave them — or himself — with any regrets.

"The wrestling fans are what put groceries on the table. So, they are going to spend their money to come, buy a ticket, buy a T-shirt nowadays, buy a pay-per-view. Whatever it may be. You’ve got to give them their money's worth," Jarrett said. "At the end of the day, I don't want to ever be sitting, proverbially on the rocking chair and say, 'Man, I wish I had fill in the blanks.' So, living with no regrets. And so, my mind's made up. It got made up right at the end of the year."

Jarrett said he’ll "see where the future takes me," also confirming that a final opponent isn’t even on his mind.

"I certainly don't have any [thoughts on my final opponent]. I am looking, like I always have, for the next opportunity," Jarrett said. "Whether it comes next Wednesday, or the following, or Saturday. Whatever it may be."
