An AEW star has undergone the knife after being sidelined for several months due to a back injury.

That star is The Blade, who broke into the business in 2000 and worked the independent scene for years. He has worked for TNA under the Braxton Sutter name, CZW, and ROH. He joined AEW alongside The Butcher as a tag team in 2019.

The Blade’s last AEW/ROH match was in January, where he lost a tag team match to Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) on an episode of ROH TV. He worked a month later against Kody Lane at the A1 Watch The Throne 7 – The Kings Are Back event.

The AEW wrestler shared in a new Instagram post that he had back fusion surgery. He wrote in the caption,

We wish him a speedy recovery. "Back fusion was a success Thank you to everyone for your continued support Means a lot to this Grizzled Vet Utility Brother."
