Legendary broadcaster Bob Cole passed away on April 24th at the age of 90. Cole's voice and calls were synonymous with the game of hockey itself for more than one generation of fan. Besides the iconic voice and professionalism, Cole seemed to be a gentleman and in the highest regard of all who knew him. Sidney Crosby paid a nice tribute to Cole with some thoughtful words.

When thinking about Bob Cole and the Penguins, the auto-recall has to be THE call on THE goal for Pittsburgh's first ever Stanley Cup in 1991.

"Look at Lemieux - oh my heavens!" indeed. Even 30+ years later, it's a big treat to watch that goal unfold in real time with Cole's call on it.

Cole's call of "The Shift" for Brooks Orpik dishing out four consecutive hits was another one. For some reason, it kind of invokes an old time announcer who could be hollering about Secretariat running down the straightaway or something like that. The voice, the flair, it's just timeless regardless of the event of sport.

From the 1970's all the way until 2019, Cole was a major soundtrack to the sport and a voice that will be missed.
