Go Bills.
Good morning, and here's your early notice to feel free to use this as your open thread for the two big NFL games today! The action gets started at 3pm on Fox, when the surprising Washington Commanders take on the favored Philadelphia Eagles in the City of Brotherly Love. Philly's eyeing their third Super Bowl trip in the last decade, while Washington hasn't even appeared in an NFC Championship Game in 33 years.
The AFC Championship Game, which starts on CBS at 6:30pm, features one of the best possible matchups that the league has to offer, with the Buffalo Bills once again trying to vanquish the dynastic Kansas City Chiefs, who are bidding for a three-peat. In Josh Allen We Trust. Maybe. Hopefully. (Even with Patrick Mahomes feeling about as inevitable as Tom Brady felt in some of the Patriots' meanest years.)
Don't care about football? That's OK! We do have some Yankees stories for you, as always. Estevão starts us off with some musings on Marcus Stroman, Matt will remember when a turn-of-the-century Yankees Highlanders pitcher became a baserunning hero, David will look back at a lost Yankees center field prospect, and John will have the weekly Social Media Spotlight.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Let's keep it simple. Who's your pick to win the AFC Championship Game?
2. And who's your pick to win the NFC Championship Game?
