A good Tuesday morning to you all.
It was expected news, but the Yankees learned that they will not be signing Roki Sasaki yesterday, as the Japanese star cut his list of remaining teams down to just three: the Dodgers, Padres, and Blue Jays. While it would've been cool for the Yankees to snag a talented arm on the cheap for years to come, they were never really considered favorites in this race, so c'est la vie.
While that news was disappointing nonetheless, the show goes on for both the Yankees and us. Peter starts our day off with a look at Brooks Raley as a potential fit in the Yankees' bullpen while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, Jeremy follows up by examining the Yankees' options in-house and out to back up Austin Wells, and David wraps it up with the latest for our Could Have Beens, this time centered on Jackson Melian.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Do the Blue Jays actually stand a chance of landing Roki Sasaki, or are they just a distant third place finisher in his sweepstakes?
2. As we're roughly halfway through the Could Have Been series, what name immediately jumps to your mind when you're asked about a Yankee that could have been someone great for them?
