Lineup changes for Game 3 seem likely; Tim Hill gets his flowers from the Stadium faithful; Cortes on possible track for World Series appearance

New York Post | Dan Martin & Greg Joyce: Austin Wells hasn't had the best postseason performance, with a .237 OPS in the Yankees' six games thus far. This comes on the heels of a .411 OPS in September, perhaps indicating the rookie may be wearing down after the most physically intense season of his professional career. With that in mind, and the Cleveland Guardians sending a lefty to the mound in Thursday's critical Game 3, Micheal Kay reported on his radio show that he expects Jose Trevino to sub in for Wells.

NJ.com | Max Goodman: Luke Weaver has received rave reviews as the Yankees' latest relief reclamation project, but don't count out Tim Hill. The unconventional lefty was released by arguably the worst team in the history of baseball this summer before the Yankees gave him a second chance with Matt Blake's pitching laboratory. That risk paid off in Game 2, where Hill recorded five key outs to hold down the Guardians while the Yankees tacked on runs, and exited the game to a standing ovation from the sellout Yankee Stadium crowd.

Yahoo! Sports | Alex Smith: Nestor Cortes threw to live hitters on Wednesday, continuing his rehab of a flexor strain in the left elbow. By all reporting the workout was uneventful, and Cortes will throw again this weekend with the potential of joining a hypothetical World Series roster late next week. The Yankee pitching staff has been dynamite so far this October, but both the Mets and Dodgers boast better lineups than the team has faced on the AL side, so pitching help won't be turned down.
