Goldschmidt dealing with a sore back; Schmidt working his way back; Power rankings entering the final days of spring
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Paul Goldschmidt left yesterday's spring game against the Blue Jays after just three innings and two at-bats. Fortunately, at least, it seems to be just precautionary as he's dealt with a sore back. For now, there are "zero" concerns about his availability for Opening Day, and afterwards he even mentioned it's something he probably could've played through but there was just no need for that right now.
New York Post | Greg Joyce: That Clarke Schmidt threw and completed a bullpen warrants a sigh of relief as the Yankees could ill-afford to lose another starter. Schmidt even said he wouldn't be throwing right now if there was a concern for something larger, but thinks what he's dealt with this spring has just been from a lack of activity dating back to his injury last year. He's confident he'll be ready to take the ball once the season starts, though obviously there's no margin for error at this point. Schmidt also admitted to pitching through some warning signs last season which may have caused a smaller issue to turn into a larger one.
The Athletic | Athletic MLB Staff ($): As we get ready to start the 2025 season soon, the staff at The Athletic runs through a power ranking of all the teams. The Yankees come in at this list at the number seven spot thanks to Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil's injuries. They'll still be competitive, but the path won't be as easy. Also if you're in for huge surprises, you'll be shocked to see which team comes in at the top spot! (No you won't.)
