Ex-NBA star Delonte West takes concerning mugshot after latest arrest

It has been a tumultuous post-playing career life for former NBA point guard Delonte West, who was arrested in Fairfax County, Virginia on Thursday morning. West played forseveral NBA teams throughout his career, including perhaps most notably the Cleveland Cavaliers alongside LeBron James, but has dealt with substance abuse issues and run-ins with the law on several occasions in the days since his playing career ended.

According to TMZ, police were serving a warrant on West when he attempted to flee and was ultimately discovered unresponsive.

“Narcan was administered by officers,” said the police, via TMZ, “but [it] did not have the desired effect. He was transported to a local hospital and Narcan was administered again, which yielded the desired effect. West was released from the hospital and transported to the ADC.”

After the incident, West had his mugshot taken at the Fairfax County Detention Center and appeared to be in a very disturbing state.

West was reportedly arrested on charges of violating conditions of release and resisting arrest and was booked into jail at 4:35 AM on Thursday. He is being held on a $2000 bond and will appear before a judge on Friday.

West has made several attempts at turning his life around in the last few years, including working with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and going to rehab back in 2020, as well as trying out for Ice Cube’s Big 3 league in 2022 in the hopes of reigniting his career on the hardwood.

However, West has since been arrested multiple more times, per TMZ, including this latest incident in Virginia.

West was a first round pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics and played there for three seasons before joining the Seattle Supersonics as part of the Ray Allen trade and then ultimately joining the Cleveland Cavaliers between 2008 and 2010, before ultimately returning to the Celtics the following year.

West last played professional basketball for the Texas Legends of the NBA G League (then known as the D League) in 2015.
