On the UFC Paris main card opener, American fan favorite Matt Frevola suffered a gruesome knockout after eating a perfectly timed knee by Fares Ziam. The knockout saw Frevola flattened on the canvas for a frightening long time before he was helped to his feet and out of the cage.

After the conclusion of the event, the UFC gave an update on Frevola via the official UFC broadcast. According to the broadcast, Frevola's head CT came back negative but he did suffer a broken orbital bone.

Frevola also seemed in good spirits as he shared a photo from the hospital with the caption, "Live by the sword, die by the sword. Hope you guys enjoyed the fight and thanks for all the support." Frevola's brother also shared a photo from the hospital, writing, "This sport ain't for the feint of heart but one thing we'll never do is shy away from the ups and downs in life."

Ziam advances to four wins in a row and Frevola has dropped his last two appearances. His last win came versus Drew Dober at UFC 288 in May 2023.
