UFC fans have been left seething after several controversial decisions have plagued the promotion’s return to London.

On Saturday, the UFC returned to London for the sixth time since 2020, as former welterweight champion, Leon Edwards looked to return to the win column with a win over Sean Brady in the main event.

With Edwards looking to return to title contention in the main event, the undercard was made up of several of his Team Renegade teammates.

One of which, was Jai Herbert, who had fought in London four times previously under the UFC banner, almost finishing Ilia Topuria during their fight in 2022.

Fans call ‘robbery’ as Jai Herbert loses decision to Chris Padilla

Opposite ‘The Black Country Banger’ stood Chris Padilla, who was coming in off two finishes in his first two UFC outings.

The opening round played out extremely tentatively for both fighters, with both lightweights hesitant to throw any big shots early on.

The second round played out extremely similarly as Herbert looked to try and let his striking go as Padilla attempted to clinch up with any chance he could.

Again in the third round, the majority of the round played out extremely passively, however, the Brit was the one who was dictating the pace and leading the exchanges.

With not long left of the fight, Herbert caught the American with a huge elbow which opened up a horrific deep cut above Padilla’s eyebrow.

Despite that, the lightweight fight went to the scorecards and the succeeding decision is one that has come under a lot of criticism. Two judges scored the fight 29-28 to Padilla with the other scoring it 29-28 to Herbert.

“Those judges robbed Jai Herbert. Robbed him blind,” one fan commented on X following the result.

“Honestly, should’ve been a draw. Both were equally unimpressive,” another fan commented.

Two other UFC London scorecards come under criticism

Unfortunately, the lightweight fight between Herbert and Padilla isn’t the only UFC London fight that has come under criticism.

Early on the card, British prospect, Nathan Fletcher was controversially beaten by Caolan Loughran, as his teammate, Paddy Pimblett watched on in disgust.

A few fights later, Tom Aspinall‘s teammate, Mick Parkin suffered the first loss of his career when he was controversially beaten by UFC veteran, Marcin Tybura.
