"The Monsoon" is a free agent.

Yesterday (Tues., Nov. 19, 2024), former Bellator title challenger and currently No. 1 Welterweight contender Lorenz Larkin announced on his Instagram story that he is no longer under contract with Professional Fighters League (PFL) and is now a free agent.

"I just wanted to keep everyone updated," Larkin said. Your boy is officially a free agent. Me and my team can officially start talking to other promotions. I'm excited. You know, this is another part of the career that we gotta do. So, I'm pumped and excited to what the future brings—excited to see who wants an exciting welterweight. So, let's see."

While Larkin is 38 years old, this is a real bonehead move by PFL because Larkin just knocked out Levan Chokheli in an official Bellator Welterweight title eliminator fight to earn the next title shot againstRamazan Kuramagomedov(watch highlights).

Prior to knocking out Chokheli, he finished Alan Dominguez at PFL 6, and last year, he had a contender for 'Knockout of the Year' when he slept Mukhamed Berkhamov with a disgusting elbow (watch highlights).

The question is, what's Larkin's next landing spot? The answer could be grim because there is not much.

While a return to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) would be awesome to see, especially because he left the promotion with wins over Neil Magny, Jorge Masvidal, and Santiago Ponzinibbio - his older age would be the issue.

The next option would probably be Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), which would make a lot of sense. His name would be a great addition to their violent roster.

Lastly, Karate Combat is always looking to add names to its growing roster, and a certified finisher like "Monsoon" is perfect.

No matter where he lands, Larkin is a valuable asset to any promotion because he's exciting and still competitive in the latter stages of his career.
