Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Michael Chandler's return at UFC 309 opposite Charles Oliveira didn't go as planned (watch highlights).

After two years on the sidelines waiting for Conor McGregor, Chandler looked a bit rusty. Right away, Oliveira backed "Iron" into the cage and started picking him apart with heavy kicks. Before long, he was landing punches and takedowns as well. Chandler did rally late with some fifth round violence (and cheating), but he spent pretty much four full rounds getting battered by the former Lightweight champion.

It was a tough night at the office, and Chandler is feeling the effects. In a recent episode of Bussin' With The Boys, Chandler revealed the extensive damage he absorbed in his 25 minutes versus "Do Bronx."

"I had a phenomenal training camp, we went to war, we did our thing," Chandler began (via Cole Shelton). "My body, the most pain I've ever been in my entire life. The most injuries I've had in a fight, for sure. Peed blood, inflammation all over, my whole body is swollen. The first (blood in my urine) was very light, which was in my drug test. New York drug-tested me before and after the fight… It had a light tint and the second one was beet-looking juice. It was dark. My whole body hurt."

Chandler also revealed that he suffered a knee injury early in the fight. Midway through the first, Chandler attempted to escape the back and ended up in a leg entanglement with Oliveira still somewhat behind him. They ended up in a strange stalemate position where neither could really move, but Chandler's leg was quite torqued.

"I think something happened to the knee in that first exchange when he had the leg and I did that full 360," Chandler explained. "He did a kneebar thing, because I walked back to the stool and I looked down at my left leg and it was not working right. It wasn't stepping, it wasn't catching, it was unstable, it was weird."

He concluded, "Essentially for 23 minutes of that fight I don't know if the leg was really working that well."

After the loss, Chandler called for his planned match up versus McGregor to be rebooked. Hopefully, the Irishman returns at a similar time as Chandler is all healed up, because the fight still makes sense.

Insomnia

Promoting Nurmagomedov vs. Hughes as Dagestan vs. Ireland 2 is the first good decision PFellator has made in ages.

Speaking of Chandler's rough night, here's a technical breakdown of how "Do Bronx" did so much damage.

I've never seen this, but I cannot think of a better encapsulation of Heavyweight MMA in particular.

I hope all the success for Reug Reug, this is awesome!

Luke Rockhold with the most bizarre hot take of the week:

Quinton Jackson negotiating for a bonus and next fight while getting his eye stitched up is some BMF behavior.

Accidentally and appropriately demonic ...

Slips, rips, and KO clips

Big lads slinging leather!

Also in Heavyweight MMA, ten-finger guillotines seem to work more often than in any other division (i.e. Ben Rothwell vs. Josh Barnett).

The camera cuts at the worst moment, but this is still a perfectly executed cross counter.

Respect to all the moms.

Midnight Music: Not a full song, but I thought my audience would dig this ...

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
