Michael Bisping names opponent who 'makes a lot of sense' for Leon Edwards after UFC London loss

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping played matchmaker for Leon Edwards after the former champion’s UFC London defeat.
Former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards‘s struggles against high-level grapplers continued Saturday in London. For the first time in his career, Edwards has lost consecutive fights, after falling to Sean Brady by submission in the UFC London headliner.
Edwards entered UFC London hoping to secure a potential rematch against Belal Muhammad after losing the belt at UFC 304 last July. Muhammad will face Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315, and Brady is now a top name to watch for the winner after his performance.
To get back into the welterweight title mix, Edwards will likely need to earn at least two wins before making a case for a title shot. Luckily, the welterweight division is full of intriguing names and stars to fight opposite Edwards soon.

Michael Bisping matchmakes ‘fun fight’ for Leon Edwards after UFC London
UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping knows a thing or two about bouncing back from adverse scenarios. En route to the UFC middleweight championship, Bisping suffered several setbacks but cemented himself as a legend due to his relentless pursuit of greatness.
Bisping believes Edwards has some personal growth to do after UFC London, but believes a showdown with a surging welterweight star would be the perfect scenario for his next fight.
In a recent post to X, Bisping suggested a big name for Edwards’s next UFC booking.
“I’d like to see him against a striker so he can have a fun fight,” Bisping said of Edwards. “Ian Garry makes a lot of sense if you ask me.”
Ian Machado Garry suffered his first career defeat to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 in December. Garry is furious with the UFC’s welterweight title fight booking, and believes he deserved the call to face Muhammad despite coming off of a loss.
Garry and Edwards were teammates earlier in their careers before a messy divorce between Garry and the gym. Entering UFC London, Garry believed he deserved to be ahead of Edwards in the rankings after his recent loss came on short notice.

Sean Brady continues to troll Leon Edwards after UFC London
As Edwards ponders his next move, he continues to feel the wrath of Brady’s trolling after UFC London. Brady imitated Edwards’s ‘headshot dead’ moniker in a post-fight social media post and accused Edwards and his team of unsportsmanlike conduct during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani.
Brady felt overlooked by Edwards, fans, and pundits entering UFC London. But after his career-best performance, Brady is knocking on the door of a title shot, depending on Rakhmonov’s return timeline from injury.
In the meantime, Edwards still hasn’t addressed his following publically after UFC London and will look to bounce back later this year. According to Bisping, a win over a top contender like Garry would be enough to get him back into the welterweight title conversation.
