Dillon Danis vs Tony Ferguson isn’t going to happen, according to a rival of the 2-0 MMA fighter, who insists there’s one significant stumbling block.

The pair of Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialists are scheduled to go head-to-head in a lightweight GFL clash on May 24 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

The match-up is an intriguing one, with a man, who was once considered one of the best on the planet, taking on a controversial grappler who has it all to prove.

Many are curious whether ‘El Cucuy’ has slipped enough for his countryman to emerge victorious. However, while there’s an element of fascination surrounding the contest, not everyone is convinced it will actually come to fruition.

Gordon Ryan says Dillon Danis vs Tony Ferguson won’t happen

Dillon Danis is currently firing shots at KSI, after the YouTuber withdrew from their contest. And to make matters worse, his upcoming fight with Tony Ferguson might not happen either, if what his old jiu-jitsu adversary has to say is accurate.

During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience Fight Companion, Gordan Ryan joined the host, as well as Brendan Schaub and Eddie Bravo, and insisted he can’t imagine a world where Danis fights Ferguson at lightweight.

He asserted: “I saw that poster, it’s gotta be fake, because there’s zero chance, at lightweight, there’s no chance.

Schaub then pointed out that lightweight in GFL is actually 165lbs, compared to the traditional 155lbs.

But this didn’t convince Ryan, who exclaimed: “There’s no way he makes 165lbs; he could barely make 170lbs when he was in shape for ADCC.”

In response, the former UFC heavyweight explained that there’s also a degree of flexibility, adding: “They can agree to fight at a weight they’re both comfortable at. If Tony goes, ‘Hey man, I feel good at 168lbs-170lbs, and Dillon agrees, ‘Yeah, I’ll fight you at 170lbs’, then they fight at 170.”

Ryan fired back: “Dillon wasn’t even making 170lbs when he fought in Bellator, he’d fight at a catchweight.”

'It's crazy'… Joe Rogan's puzzled reaction to KSI pulling out of Dillon Danis grudge fight

KSI made the tough call to withdraw from his showdown with Dillon Danis, citing a severe sickness, which his opponent has since branded a ‘cold’.

The decision particularly puzzled the presenter of The Fight Companion, who was baffled by the whole thing, with the podcaster giving his reaction during Saturday night’s episode.

During his broadcast, which occurred during UFC London, Rogan gave his view on KSI pulling out of the Danis fight.
