Despite his long hiatus from the UFC, fans remained hopeful that Conor McGregor would make a comeback to action.

Conor McGregor last fought in the UFC in 2021 when he took on Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight, breaking his leg at the end of round one.

Since then, ‘The Notorious’ Irishman has been scheduled to return against Michael Chandler after their season on The Ultimate Fighter, however, McGregor pulled out of their UFC 303 fight due to a broken toe.

Following his withdrawal from his scheduled comeback, the Irishman has consistently teased that his return would happen imminently, and UFC boss Dana White remained hopeful.

During his hiatus from action, the 36-year-old has gotten involved in several interesting ventures, and McGregor recently revealed he will be running for Presidency in Ireland.

As well as that, keeping his name involved in combat sports, McGregor became co-owner of bare-knuckle boxing promotion, BKFC.

And with that, the Irishman has become somewhat of a permanent fixture at BKFC events, getting right into the center of the action and even teasing that he will fight under the BKFC banner one day.

At the recent BKFC event, McGregor took to the stage to answer questions, of course, being pressed by reporters regarding his potential comeback to the UFC.

McGregor went on to drop a huge retirement hint, stating that he is happy with how his career has gone and that he has other things that he is more interested in pursuing at this point.

During the event, McGregor linked up with fellow former UFC double champion, Amanda Nunes. ‘The Lioness’ is widely regarded as the greatest female fighter ever following her success in the UFC.

Amanda Nunes could make UFC return this year

Although fans have likely come to terms with McGregor not returning to the UFC any time soon, if at all, there is a big chance that Nunes will return to action in 2025.

After Kayla Harrison made her much-anticipated UFC debut at UFC 300 last April, Nunes immediately teased a return to the UFC, sending a cryptic video to Dana White.

Following the video, Dana White admitted that there is a chance Nunes could return to the sport, especially if Harrison goes on to become the UFC women’s bantamweight champion.
