03/20/2025 06:30 PM
Checkout the week that was (3/10/25) here at MMAmania.com and chop it up in the comments section all weekend long with whatever tickles your fancy (within reason!).
Welcome, Maniacs! "This Week in MMAmania.com" is BACK after a 10-year absence. Did you miss it? Some of y'all might not even know what I am talking about.
Nevertheless, we are excited (checkout last week's edition here).
As you know, MMAmania.com churns out a ridiculous amount of stories weekly. And if you don't refresh this site constantly, you might just miss an amazing story. Or, if you don't go read the comments section on each story, you might miss a wise crack that will leaving you LOL'ing.
But, don't trip ... we got you covered. This weekly article will recap the best of the best on MMAMania.com, reviewing the most-read stories, best comments, best social media posts, etc.
So, sit back and take a gander at the madness of the week that was ...
Article of the Week:
The story that got the most eyeballs last week was actually a disturbing one: Former UFC champion, B.J. Penn, is/was insisting that the government murdered his mother and replaced her with an imposter.
While the "Best of the Best" is supposed to be a fun series to look back on and laugh at the previous week, on a serious note, we hope "The Prodigy" gets the help he needs before something (more) serious happens.
MMAmania.com Comment(s) of the Week:
Last week, we highlighted just one reader comment; however, with how many hilarious / clever comments there are weekly, we decided to add a few more this week:
- Ronda Rousey returned to the gym to get back in shape after becoming a mom for the second time. In the clip, "Rowdy" was hitting mitts and MMAmania.com user, Lonecowboy, wrote what everyone was thinking:
- UFC Vegas 104 had a bunch of Octagon newcomers and names that are hard to say, including but not limited to Diyar Nurgozhay, Choi Seung-woo andYuneisy Duben, among others. So, old school MMAmania.com user, tap or snap bons, pointed it out in the live thread ... and it's hard to disagree.
- The mixed martial arts (MMA) universe can thank MMAmania.com user, Hitchslap, for manifesting two back-to-back, bonus-winning female knockouts.
MMA Mania Tweet of the Week:
It's safe to say Yuneisy Duben made several new fans with her first official UFC weigh-in.

MMA Mania Fan-Tweet of the Week:
And because of Duben's viral weigh in, her social media comments will never be the same ...
Welcome to the UFC, your social media comments will never be the same
— ZoreanKombie (@ZoreanKombie) March 14, 2025
They might not be the same, either, after Duben's debut opponent, Carli Judice, knocked her into next week with a thundering first round head kick knockout (watch that here).
Fighter Comment of the Week:
Magomed Ankalaev (or his manager) has turned heel and is now a crap-talking machine on social media (which might be good — he's pretty boring otherwise).
Poor Khalil Rountree got branded "Bumtree" for his reaction during UFC 313's pay-per-view (PPV) main event.
"Khalil bum tree upset I beat his daddy, let's go Jamaal," Ankalaev wrote.
Picture of the Week:
UFC photographer, Chris Unger, captured Kevin Vallejos in mid-celebratory backflip:
Expect to see many more flips ... just not any of these, please.
Unseen Knockout of the Week:
Hell yeah!

Random Stat of the Week:
UFC women's Strawweight, Sam Hughes, has been a betting underdog in each of her 10 UFC fights. She currently sits a 5-5 in the promotion, defeating Stephanie Luciano — a -230 pre-fight betting favorite — via split decision in her most recent performance.
Best Prediction of the Week:
I must be honest — there were A LOT of wrong predictions last week. Do better, Maniacs! Like us (humble brag).
Nevertheless, MMAmania.com user, The_Citadel, picked Brendson Ribeiro in the live thread ... and got it right.
Fight Announcement of the Week:
Somebody sound the alarm — JEREMY STEPHENS IS BACK IN UFC!
The Octagon is coming to DES MOINES @CorySandhagenx vs @Daico_Deiveson headlines the first ever #UFCDesMoines!

Jorge Masvidal knocked out Darren Till in his own backyard (see it here) to kickstart a magical few years, during which he became one of the biggest stars in the sport.
He also tuned up the aforementioned Edwards with the infamous "Three-Piece and a Soda" backstage for interrupting his post-fight interview.
