LOS ANGELES – Left fielder Teoscar Hernandez was hopeful he would be back in the lineup as soon as Monday after learning he didn't suffer a broken foot after getting hit by an 82-mph slider on Friday.

He said a day later that while his foot was "pretty sore" it was nothing to worry about. And to prove that the rookie outfielder took part in light drills before Sunday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians.

Hernandez underwent an MRI and a CT scan on his injured left foot Saturday. The results showed that he did not suffer a fracture and will not spend any time on the Injured List.

While Manager Dave Roberts didn't put the brakes on Hernandez's optimism, he did slow down the expectations.

"He's moving around today and hopefully he will take some swings in the cage," Roberts said. "It's day to day and we'll see if tomorrow makes sense. I don't see (his absence going) past Tuesday."

Andy Pages again started in Hernandez's place Sunday.

Hernandez is second on the team in home runs (28) and RBIs (87) with an .819 OPS (fourth on the team behind Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman).

NO UPDATE ON STONE

Roberts said there was no additional information Sunday on Gavin Stone. Stone, who has made a team-leading 25 starts, was placed on the IL on Friday after experiencing right shoulder pain.

"Gavin is not doing any baseball activity, he's not throwing," Roberts said. "I think that's going to be 10 days without throwing and then (he will) build back up from there. Nothing has changed."

Roberts said the team won't know the extent of the inflammation until he begins throwing.

"Right now, they (training staff) just want to minimize movement (to reduce) the inflammation," Roberts added.

HOT TIME

The temperature hit 103 degrees when the teams took the field for Sunday's afternoon game, matching the highest game temperature in Dodger Stadium history.

The thermometer also reached 103 in Game 1 of the 2017 World Series.

In an attempt to minimize the heat-related issues, the outfield scoreboards reminded fans to seek medical attention if experiencing problems. Fans also received a voucher for a free bottle of water to help them stay hydrated in the extreme heat.

Roberts said the hottest game he recalled was a day game that was played on the artificial turf at Royals Stadium in Kansas City. He added that he never saw any player suffer extreme heat exhaustion and was "hoping it doesn't happen today."

RAMIREZ RE-JOINS THE TEAM

The Dodgers picked up the contract of left-hander Nick Ramirez on Sunday and optioned Justin Wrobleski. To make room for Ramirez on the 40-man roster, the team designated pitcher Michael Petersen for assignment.

This is Ramirez's second stint with the club after being designated for assignment on July 30. He went 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA in seven games in his first stint.

He made 25 appearances with Oklahoma City this season, going a combined 3-1 with a 4.65 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 31.0 innings.

Wrobleski pitched two scoreless innings in Saturday's 7-2 victory night, allowing one hit and striking out two batters. The lefthander is 1-2 and a 6.40 ERA with the Dodgers in seven games, striking out 22 in 32.1 innings and producing a 1.42 WHIP.
