A handful of strong pitching performances in the Dodgers minor leagues on Wednesday, headlined by River Ryan tossing four scoreless innings for Oklahoma City.

Three of the four Dodgers minor league affiliates notched wins on Wednesday night.

Player of the day

River Ryan continued to progress after missing over two months with shoulder soreness. The right-hander pitched four scoreless innings in his longest outing to date this season, with four strikeouts, working around two singles and a walk.

Ryan induced 10 swinging strikes among his 57 pitches. Since joining Oklahoma City, the right-hander has a 2.38 ERA in 11⅓ innings with 13 strikeouts (a 28.9-percent rate) and four walks.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

James Outman and Ryan Ward homered, and coupled with Ryan on the mound and a strong bullpen, Oklahoma City topped the Las Vegas Aviators (A's).

Ward had two hits on the night. He scored twice, with the other run coming on a wild pitch in the second inning after Ward walked and stole a base.

Matt Gage got three groundouts in a perfect ninth to earn his first save of the season. More on him below.

Andre Lipcius was hitless in four at-bats, but at first base did make this nifty catch ranging well into right field for the out.

Double-A Tulsa

Lucas Wepf blew a one-run lead in the ninth, but pitched a scoreless 10th to preserve a one-run Drillers win over the Wichita Wind Surge (Twins).

Chris Campos has started twice for Tulsa, both lasting six innings with zero earned runs. He allowed only one unearned run on Wednesday night, but left with a lead after striking out six and walking two.

Right fielder Bubba Alleyne singled home the free runner for the winning run in the top of the 10th, part of a two-hit game.

Shortstop Alex Freeland had an RBI double and also scored a run, his fourth straight game scoring at least once. Earlier Wednesday, Freeland made Baseball America's updated list of top 100 prospects, now ranked the No. 92 prospect in baseball. Says BA: "The switch-hitter is impressing scouts both as a hitter and in the field, where he's Tulsa's everyday shortstop."

High-A Great Lakes

The Loons built an early five-run lead, and held on for a one-run victory over the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers).

Shortstop Noah Miller had three hits, including a double. Designated hitter Kyle Nevin doubled, singled, drove in three, and even stole two bases.

Second baseman Sam Mongelli had a two-run home run in a three-run third.

After the Whitecaps pulled to within one run in the seventh inning, Michael Martinez and Kelvin Ramirez eached pitched scoreless innings to close out the Great Lakes win.

Low-A Rancho Cucamonga

A four-run sixth inning broke a tie in the Quakes' loss to the Visalia Rawhide (D-backs).

Jeral Perez doubled and scored in the first inning, but that was the only run for Rancho Cucamonga.

Wyatt Crowell struck out five in 3⅓ innings, and allowed one run in his third start since joining Low-A.

Transactions

Triple-A: Left-hander Matt Gage took right-hander J.P. Feyereisen's spot on the Dodgers 40-man roster, and both remain with Oklahoma City.
