Mookie Betts earns NL's first 2024 Player of the Month honor

Mookie Betts kept mashing throughout March and April,and now he comes out of it as the National League Player of the Month.

Betts had a .368/.477/.624/1.101 slash line with six home runs, 18 extra-base hits, 23 RBI and 26 walks in 32 games for the period of March/April.

This is the third career Player of the Month award for Betts and second as a Dodger after winning the award last August with a .455/.516/.839/1.355 slash line with 11 homers and 30 RBI.

The Tennessee native has had eight multi-hit games in April, including April 16 against Washington, where he went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, two doubles and two RBI.

He had two other four-hit games, including March 21 in Seoul South, Korea, where he hit a home run‚ the first by a Major Leaguer in the country in an MLB game, and drove in six runs.

On April 2, he hit his 1,500th career hit, a home run against the Giants.

Betts currently leads the Major Leagues in batting average (.377), on-base percentage (.481), OPS (1.104), hits (49), walks (26), runs (29), total bases (81), bWAR (3.1) and fWAR (2.8). He is second in slugging percentage (.623) and extra-base hits (18).

He also, in his first season at the position, has five defensive runs saved at shortstop.
