The Dodgers on Wednesday activated Joe Kelly from the injured list after missing 16 games with right shoulder inflammation. Bobby Miller was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City, effectively ending an injury-plagued, lost season for the right-hander.

Kelly pitched two games for Triple-A Oklahoma City on a rehab assignment, totaling two scoreless, hitless innings with three strikeouts and a walk. His appearance on Sunday involved pitching in parts of two innings, getting a strikeout in relief of Tony Gonsolin's rehab start in the third inning before retiring both batters he faced in the fourth.

He's a fresh arm in a bullpen that sorely needs relief after pitching 32⅔ innings over the last seven games. That included five pitchers combining to pitch six innings and allow seven runs in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday night in Miami.

Miller started on Tuesday and allowed four runs in his two innings, needing 62 pitches to record those six outs. It's been a rough season for Miller, who missed 10 weeks with shoulder inflammation and then was later scratched from a Triple-A start with knee soreness after getting optioned.

While in the majors, Miller made 13 starts and put up a 8.52 ERA in his 56 innings, his ERA ranking dead last among the 333 pitchers with at least 50 innings. It's also the worst seasonal ERA by any Dodgers pitcher ever with at least 10 starts.

"Even when I do get into counts I want to be in and sequence the right pitches, there's been hits on some really good pitches as well," Miller said after Tuesday's game, per SportsNet LA. "It's definitely very frustrating, but I know I going to come out of this. I'm going to be be working harder than I ever have to come out of this, there's no doubt in my mind. Whenever that may be, I'm going to be back better than I ever have."

Michael Grove was also optioned after giving up three runs of his own on Tuesday, throwing 30 pitches in a five-out appearance against the Marlins, likely putting him out of commission for a few days. Zach Logue was called up as another fresh arm.

Grove has a 5.12 ERA and 3.63 xERA in 39 games in his first year of full-time relief work, with 54 strikeouts and 16 walks in 51 innings.

The left-hander Logue signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers last week, and allowed a run in three innings in his start for Oklahoma City on September 12. The 28-year-old pitched in the majors in parts of 2022 with the A's and 2023 with the Tigers, putting up a combined 6.88 ERA in 68 innings, with 52 strikeouts, 22 walks, and 16 home runs allowed.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Logue, the done-for-the-year Tyler Glasnow was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

If Logue appears in a game, he'll be the 39th pitcher for the Dodgers this season, tying the club's franchise record set in 2021 and matched in 2023. He's wearing uniform number 62 with LA.
