There were no fist bumps as Justin Turner rounded the bases on Oct. 15, 2017, but there were loud noises coming from a dorm building at Lafayette College.

Turner had just hit a walk-off three-run home run lifting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs and a 2-0 lead in the National League Championship Series. Over in said dorm building, a Dodgers fan scared their downstairs neighbor into thinking something crazy was happening.

It was just a celebration of Turner’s home run which eventually led to a proposal.

On Monday, this story appeared on X (formerly Twitter) and Turner interacted with the couple, congratulating them on their engagement.

This moment was one the ballpark and city hadn't witnessed in nearly three decades. On Oct. 15, 1988, Kirk Gibson rose from the training table to deliver a legendary home run against Oakland closer Dennis Eckersley, cementing his legacy.

"That," Turner said after the game, "was the coolest thing I've ever done in my baseball career."

Turner, who just turned 40 in November, finished this year with the Seattle Mariners and vowed to play in 2025 at the end of the 2024 season.

“I still feel good, still feel like I have a lot to contribute," Turner said in September. "And I absolutely love spending time around these guys and the conversations and questions and helping guys try to figure things out.”

Turner showed interest in returning to Seattle after the season, and reports suggest the Mariners are open to re-signing him.

“I’ve talked to a lot of guys, and I’ve enjoyed my time here – I would love to be back and be a Mariner," Turner said. "And I guess when that time comes, we’ll see what happens. … This is a fantastic clubhouse. And like I said, it’s a core group of guys that is going to be together for some time, and I think they have a chance to do some special things."
