Former Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard is attempting to return to the Major Leagues.

In an effort to return to the league, Syndergaard is on a weight loss journey. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Syndergaard lost 30 pounds and currently weighs 235 pounds. This is seven pounds lighter than the weight listed on his MLB bio.

Back in September on the Terry Collins Show, Syndergaard expressed interest in coming back to the league, with a specific team in mind.

“I would love to come home to New York,” Syndergaard said on the show. “Hopefully, that’s in store for me. I love the fan base. I love the city. I love the culture, the history, the passion. It’s the best place to play.”

Syndergaard spent the majority of his eight-season MLB career on the New York Mets. The 6-foot-6 right-hander made his debut with New York on May 12, 2015, and went on to play six seasons with the franchise.

The Mansfield, Texas native has not played in the Major Leagues since 2023. His last start was on Aug. 27 with the Cleveland Guardians in 2023.

After his stint with the Mets, the Los Angeles Angels signed Syndergaard as a free agent in 2021. Throughout his career, Syndergaard has played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Guardians, and Dodgers. And although he never made an appearance with the Toronto Blue Jays, the franchise drafted him as the No. 38 overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft.

In 2022, the Dodgers signed Syndergaard as a free agent. He posted a 1-4 record with a 7.14 ERA, 38 strikeouts, and nine walks across 12 starts. Then, Los Angeles traded him to the Guardians while he was recovering from a right index finger blister. However, his time with Cleveland was short as he made only six starts before he was released in Aug. 2023.
