Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani's historic finish earns NL Player of the Month award

Shohei Ohtani's historic season had a big finish – and that earned him the National League Player of the Month award for September.
Ohtani earned the honor by going 42 for 107 (.393) in the month with 10 home runs and 32 RBIs in 26 games. He had an OPS of 1.225 and stole 16 bases, extending a streak of successful stolen bases to 36 in a row.
Ohtani finished the season on a 12-game hitting streak and had 13 multi-hit games during September – including his epic 6-for-6, three-home run, 10-RBI night in Miami. That game made him the first 50-50 player in baseball history. He finished with a franchise-record 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases.
No other player in MLB had as many hits, scored as many runs, drove in as many or stole as many bases during September. Kyle Schwarber tied Ohtani for the MLB lead in home runs for the month. No one who played in more than two games topped Ohtani in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage or OPS for the month.
