While the Los Angeles Dodgers are heavily invested in the Rōki Sasaki sweepstakes, which are expected to heat up in the coming days, they are also reportedly in on another international free agent, 25-year-old Kim Hye-seong.
According to KBO in English on X, Sunday Newspaper, a Korean newspaper outlet has reported that the Korean infielder has received offers from the Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Still just 25 (26 in January), he's coming off a strong season in which he slashed .326/.383/.458 with career-best marks in home runs (11) and strikeout rate (10.9%). While he lacks the power of his former Kiwoom Heroes teammate, Hyeseong Kim is regarded as a plus runner and plus defender at second base.
Kim has not been a hot commodity in the baseball free-agent world. If the 25-year-old infielder does not sign with a team today by 2:00 PM PT, he will return to the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO). However, he is an unrestricted free agent next winter and could attempt another shot at the majors if unsigned.
