Dodgers Pitcher Expects Walker Buehler to Be a Coach One Day

Two-time World Series champion Walker Buehler proved his ability to rise above pressure this postseason. The 30-year-old starting pitcher closed out the 2024 Fall Classic to win the Dodgers' eighth World Series title in franchise history.
In an interview with Dodgers Nation's Doug McKain, Dodgers pitcher Landon Knack explained how the seven-season veteran pitcher would make a good coach in the future.
"I think Walker, at some point, will likely be a coach, because he just kind of has that kind of brain where he just wants to talk about things," Knack said to McKain on Dodgers Dougout Live. "And he's actually really good at being able to explain kind of his process and be able to try to show you exactly what he wants to do. I think Walker is like a great guy to have been around, to be able to talk about a bunch of that stuff with."

Knack made his MLB debut on April 17 this season with the Dodgers. He joined Buehler in the rotation after starting pitcher Bobby Miller was placed on the injured list. Knack ended up making 12 starts across 15 total appearances while logging a 3.65 ERA.
While Knack will likely remain in the Dodgers organization, Buehler’s future will take him elsewhere.
On Monday, Buehler and the Boston Red Sox agreed to a one-year deal. Buehler will have the opportunity to get consistent starts on a Red Sox team looking to get back to the postseason. If Buehler has a strong season, he’ll likely earn himself a lucrative multi-year deal next offseason.

The two-time All-Star has spent his entire MLB career with the Dodgers. Now, he’ll get his first taste of the American League with Boston.
The Dodgers travel to Boston from July 25-27 for a three-game series. That will give the Dodgers players their first chance to reunite with Buehler this season.
