Connor Brogdon cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City, removing him from the Los Angeles Dodgers' 40-man roster.
The Dodgers acquired Brogdon from the Philadelphia Phillies this past April in exchange for Minor League pitcher Benony Robles, who originally signed with the team as an international free agent in July 2017.
Brogdon had been designated for assignment by the Phillies after allowing seven runs (six earned) in two innings pitched across three appearances.
Brogdon pitched in one game for the Dodgers before he was placed on the 15-day injured list with right plantar fasciitis. The 29-year-old was transferred to the 60-day IL in May and missed the remainder of the 2024 season.
Between the two teams, Brogdon posted a 24.00 ERA and 3.67 WHIP with three strikeouts against six walks in three innings of work (four games).
Brogdon was selected by the Phillies in the 10th round of the 2017 MLB Draft and emerged as a key contributor for them during their World Series run five years later.
In parts of five MLB season, Brogdon owns a 10-8 record, 3.97 ERA, 4.47 FIP and 1.26 WHIP over 145 innings across 143 appearances (two starts).
Dodgers 40-man roster without Connor Brogdon
The Dodgers’ 40-man roster now stands at 37, which is notable as the Nov. 19 deadline to protect players from the 2024 Rule 5 Draft approaches.
The Dodgers added Nick Frasso, Landon Knack and Hunter Feduccia to their 40-man roster last year to prevent them from being selected.
The Dodgers could do the same with Austin Gauthier this year, who is currently ranked as the No. 24 prospect in the organization by MLB Pipeline.
Gauthier batted .253/.374/.359 with 19 doubles, five triples, six home runs and 48 RBI in 130 games between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City this year.
Other notable Dodgers prospects eligible for the Rule 5 Draft are former third-round pick Jake Vogel and Damon Keith.
