Brewers Vs. Dodgers Game Preview: Justin Wrobleski Makes MLB Debut

The Los Angeles Dodgers are concluding their homestand Sunday with an opportunity to finish off a series sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers.

After losing two of three to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Dodgers responded with back-to-back wins against the best team in the National League Central. The Dodgers have won seven games in a row against the Brewers at Dodger Stadium.

Fast-rising prospect Justin Wrobleski makes his MLB debut on Sunday.

The left-hander had his contract selected after making just two starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Wrobleski went 5-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 67.2 innings pitched over 13 starts for Double-A Tulsa before getting promoted.

He features fastball that sits in the upper 90s, and also throws a cutter, curveball and changeup.

The Dodgers selected Wrobleski in the 11th round of the 2021 MLB Draft.

Matt Gage was traded to the New York Mets in order to make room for Wrobleski on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, and the team optioned Gus Varland.

Milwaukee counters with Dallas Keuchel in what’s his third start since being traded to the team late last month. It’s been a struggle for the veteran thus far as he holds a 6.75 ERA and 1.61 WHIP through two starts for the Brewers.

Keuchel did far better last week when compared to his Brewers debut, as he held the Colorado Rockies to just two runs in 5.1 innings at Coors Field.

Miguel Vargas is back in the Dodgers lineup for the second time in three games. Vargas homered on Friday and Saturday, with his second being the first pinch-hit blast of his career.

Vargas is expected to receive more opportunities with Jason Heyward on the 10-day injured list and could potentially play some third base in the future due to Max Muncy’s latest setback in his recovery from a right oblique strain.
