The Detroit Tigers announced recent roster moves on Tuesday, which included the designation for assignment of two former Dodgers. Detroit designated infielder Eddys Leonard and right handed-pitchers Ricky Vanasco and Brendan White for assignment. Leonard and Vanasco each played within the Dodgers organization.

Right-handed pitchers Chase Lee, Tyler Mattison, and Tyler Owens are replacing the trio on the Tigers' 40-man roster.

Vanasco, who was a rookie this year, had the most recent stint with Los Angeles. His second and last appearance with the Dodgers was on July 13 against the Tigers. He was recalled to replace right-handed starting pitcher Bobby Miller. However, Vanasco struggled on the mound, logging a 13.50 ERA and allowing three runs.

After this appearance, the Dodgers optioned Vanasco on July 14 then designated him for assignment on July 24. Los Angeles traded him to Detroit for cash by the end of July.

The 26-year-old's MLB debut on April 15 against the Washington Nationals went much smoother. Vanasco struck out Nationals' Riley Adams to record the first strikeout of his MLB career.

Unlike Vanasco, Leonard has yet to make his MLB debut. The Dodgers signed Leonard as a free agent to a minor league contract in July 2017. The shortstop climbed up the minor league ladder but never made it past Double-A. In Aug. 2023, Los Angeles traded Leonard to Detroit for cash.

Despite the recent roster move, Leonard has been more successful with the Tigers. He was immediately assigned to the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens, who he has played with for the past two seasons. Although he has not made an MLB debut, Detroit recalled Leonard twice this season.
