This week is a big one for German track and field star Alica Schmidt.
Schmidt, 26, burst onto the scene at the Paris Olympics last summer, where she competed for her country's 4x400 relay. While she and her teammates didn't medal, Schmidt did earn the distinction of being called "The World's Hottest Olympian." We'll see if she's back to defend that title in Los Angeles in 2028.
Right now, Schmidt is preparing for her first-ever indoor 800m race later this week. Earlier today, she had her final major training session before the real thing, showing off how exhausted she was for her more than 5.6 million Instagram followers.
"Today's session in a nutshell 🫠 last tough session done before it's race day 🫢🔥 @janpetrac „today shouldn't be too tough" well I still have to get used to this short breaks between runs 😂🥲 so we better work on that 🙌🏼ps: last one is my favourite 👀#trackandfield#running," Schmidt wrote in the caption of her post.
"every day better! 🎯✅," a Schmidt fan account said in the comments.
"What's your average km/h for the longer races?! You're keeping up with the bikes! 🚲 LOL 😂," a second person said.
"Girls Power ! 👏," a third person chimed in.
"Super cute," said a fourth.
"Gorgeous," added a fifth.
Best known for her sprint and relay work, Schmidt will make her indoor 800m debut on Friday.
She previewed the experience in an Instagram post last Friday.
"T-7 days till my indoor 800m debut ✨ This camp was challenging and a new experience for me training wise and I'm now excited to step onto the track and see where I'm at 🏃🏼♀️ It's still a long way but I'm enjoying this journey so much 🫶🏼#trackandfield#running#newchallenge," Schmidt wrote.
We'll be interested to see how she performs.
