WNBA Team Fires Head Coach After Two Seasons

The WNBA finals are underway, with the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx battling for the top spot on the podium. While those two franchises are competing for the championship trophy, other organizations are making difficult decisions during the finals.

A recent report revealed that Dallas Wings head coach Latricia Trammell has been fired from the organization after two years as the leader on the sideline.

Dallas finished the 2024 season with a 9-31 record. They were listed as the No. 11 team in the WNBA standings after losing nine of their 10 games.

In Trammell's first season with the organization, 2023, the Wings earned a 22-18 record, listed as the No. 2 team in the Western Conference.

Despite the early success with the organization, Dallas decided to pull the plug on Trammell.

Before Trammell received her first head coaching opportunity at the WNBA level in 2023, she served as a Los Angeles Sparks assistant from 2019 to 2022. She was also an assistant for the San Antonio Stars in 2017.

Trammell started her coaching journey in 1994 when she was an assistant coach at Midwest City High School in Oklahoma.

Trammell is now the fourth head coach to be fired from their respective organization during the WNBA playoffs. Before she was dismissed, Teresa Weatherspoon from the Chicago Sky, Curt Miller from the Los Angeles Sparks, and Tanisha Wright from the Atlanta Dream were also fired.
