Diana Taurasi, one of the best and longest-tenured players in WNBA history, is set to be suspended.
The Phoenix Mercury guard, who won a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris, France earlier this summer, received a technical foul during Sunday afternoon's game against the Las Vegas Aces. The former UConn Huskies star was hit with a technical foul - her seventh of the season - with 7:39 remaining in the third quarter on Sunday afternoon.
Taurasi was hit with a technical foul for arguing with the referees. The refs felt like Taurasi took things too far with her criticism in the second half of Sunday's game.
Now, Taurasi is facing an automatic suspension.

WNBA rules mandate that players are automatically suspended for the next game once they get to the seven technical fouls mark. Unless Taurasi's technical foul is rescinded, she will be suspended for Tuesday night's game against the Atlanta Dream.
Taurasi, 42, is among the WNBA players with the most technical fouls in the league in 2024.
It's been a frustrating day all around for Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury. They are trailing the Las Vegas Aces, 81-64, in the second half of Sunday's game.
Barring a major comeback, the Mercury will drop below .500, to 16-17 on the season, with a loss on Sunday.
