Today EA Sports revealed their rankings for the best defenses and offenses in College Football 25. If you plan on playing Road To Glory or Dynasty, you might want to know who’ll be among the best teams to play with at launch. This week, EA Sports has been revealing a ton of new information on the game, with the official Power Rankings releasing tomorrow. For now, we listed all the best defenses in College Football 25.

College Football 25 Defensive Power Rankings – The Top 25 Best Defenses in the Game

Today, EA Sports revealed the defensive power rankings for College Football 25 before the game’s launch in July. The top 25 best defenses of College Football 25 include:

25. Florida – 84 OVR

24. Kansas State – 84 OVR

23. North Carolina – 84 OVR

22. Louisville – 84 OVR

21. Oklahoma State – 84 OVR

20. Colorado – 84 OVR

19. Texas A&M – 84 OVR

18. LSU – 84 OVR

17. Auburn – 86 OVR

16. USC – 86 OVR

15. Wisconsin – 86 OVR

14. Virginia Tech – 86 OVR

13. Iowa – 88 OVR

12. Oklahoma – 88 OVR

11. Florida State – 88 OVR

10. Utah – 88 OVR

The Utes just barely made the list of top 10 best defenses in College Football 25. In 2023, the team allowed less than 20 points per game, while also allowing just over 1,000 rushing yards. While the Pass defense didn’t rank among one of the best, that could give you an exciting project to undertake as a coach in Dynasty mode.

9. Penn State – 88 OVR

Overall, this pick has us scratching our heads the most. Penn State was the only school to allow less than 3,000 yards last year while allowing third least amount of points (137). The team allowed less than 900 rushing yards across 12 games, which is an extremely impressive feat. Even against the Conference’s best teams, Michigan and Ohio State, the Nittany Lions defense performed extremely well.

8. Texas – 88 OVR

The Longhorns’ defense only allowed an impressive 17.5 points per game last year. Allowing less than one 85 rushing yards per game last year, Texas should be lots of fun for players who love getting a tackle for a loss. Additionally, if you turn the ball over, you’ll get to play with Quinn Ewers, who we predict will be one of the game’s higher rated QBs.

7. Michigan – 90 OVR

Despite allowing just 9.5 points per game across 13 contests in 2023, the Wolverines are ranked #7. That said, their OVR is technically tied with multiple teams ahead of them. The Wolverines only allowed 3,116 total yards, the second best in the league, allowing only 123 points along the way. We understand that Jim Harbaugh’s departure probably affected this rank, but we believe the defense should still perform well in 2024.

6. Notre Dame – 90 OVR

The Fighting Irish allowed less than 17 points per game last year, and ranked 7th best in total yards allowed. Overall, much of their defensive success can be attributed to a tough pass defense. The Fighting Irish allowed just over 150 passing yards per game in 2023. Therefore, if you struggle at pass defense, Notre Dame might be a good spot to start a Dynasty with.

5. Clemson – 90 OVR

The Clemson Tigers held opponents under 20 points per game last year, while also only allowing 3,344 total yards (fifth least). Much of the credit goes to their pass defense, who allowed under 2,000 total yards across 12 games. Overall, Clemson’s defense, much less the school, will definitely be among the best in CFB 25.

4. Alabama – 90 OVR

The Crimson Tide only allowed 18.4 points per game in 2023. Additionally, the team only allowed an average of roughly 189 passing yards per game. The defense ranked third overall in yards allowed in the SEC, behind only Georgia and Texas A&M. While their run defense could use some improvement, the Crimson Tide’s defense should be fun to use.

3. Oregon – 90 OVR

Oregon’s defense did allow roughly 320 yards per game, but their defense limited opponent to less than 18 points per game. Furthermore, they held opponents to just 10 points or less in seven contests, including the VRBO Fiesta Bowl. Overall, Oregon’s defense, and variety of uniforms, make them an exciting team to play with in CFB 25.

2. Georgia – 94 OVR

The Bulldog’s defense has obviously settled down a bit since their impressive 2021 campaign. Nevertheless, they still rank among one of the best defenses in College Football. In 2023, the team allowed only 16.6 points per game, and allowed only 177 passing yards per game. Make sure you’re on your A game if you visit Georgia in Dynasty or RTG.

1. Ohio State – 96 OVR

Overall, the Ohio State Buckeyes rank as the #1 best defense in College Football 25. The team allowed only 11 points per game last year, and allowed only 3,119 yards across 12 games. That ranked them third place in the least amount of yards allowed in 2023. Furthermore, the Buckeyes allowed less than 150 passing yards per game last year.

Overall, that includes all the College Football 25 defensive power rankings, which includes the top 25 best defense in the game at launch. Tomorrow wraps up an entire week of College Football 25 information reveals. This time it’ll be the game’s official power rankings, which is what most players will likely be interested in hearing.
