North Carolina's women's soccer program won its first national championship since 2012 earlier this month.
The Tar Heels topped the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 1-0, in the national championship game on Dec. 9. Olivia Thomas scored a free kick in the 62nd minute, which ended up being the game-winning score. The Tar Heels have won a national title for the first time since 2012, though they've largely dominated the sport. North Carolina (22-5-0) has won 22 of the 43 NCAA women's soccer titles.
The program was led by interim head coach Damon Nahas, who became the second coach in NCAA women's soccer history to win it all in Year 1.
While UNC's women's soccer program has thrived on the field, they've gone viral off of it, too.
Alexa Kate Wojo, a UNC women's soccer player, has turned heads with her photos on Instagram.
The UNC Tar Heels player, who previously attended Villanova, transferred into the Chapel Hill program.
The Tar Heels women's soccer star has close to 5,000 followers on Instagram.
Alexa had an impressive background coming into the year:
