Meet Deion Sanders' Future R&B Singer Son-In-Law (1:28)

Deion Sanders has quickly emerged as a contender to fill the Dallas Cowboys' head-coaching vacancy. The Hall of Famer has not yet had any negotiations with his former team, but the possibility of him leaving Colorado for the NFL has people buzzing.

All we can say for certain as of this Friday is that ESPN broadcaster Troy Aikman would love to see Sanders coach the Cowboys. Aikman was teammates with Sanders from 1995-1999, so naturally he was asked about the rumors linking "Prime Time" to Dallas. Although it wouldn't be an easy gig for Sanders, his former teammate believes it's one he has earned.

"Well, I wouldn't bet against him. I absolutely would never bet against Deion," Aikman told The Dallas Morning News. "I've just seen it too many times. ... He's proven that he's earned the opportunity. So if he lands the job in Dallas, if that ultimately is what happens, or if he goes somewhere else within the NFL or even in the college ranks, I mean, he's earned that opportunity."

One reason Aikman likes the idea of Sanders coaching the Cowboys is because he would be able to relate to the players in the locker room.

"I don't know if I'd look at anyone and say it's necessarily a great fit. I just think there's a lot of hurdles. And so it may not be a great fit for anyone, but if Deion were to come on board, I think he'd be fantastic. I think you would relate exceptionally well to the locker room. It's amazing that for someone who's as far removed from having played the reverence that these current players have for his career and what he was as a player.

On Thursday, NFL reporter Ed Werder said Sanders would gladly become the next head coach of "America's Team" if he's offered the job.

"I'm being told that he would almost certainly accept if Jerry Jones offers to make him the next Cowboys head coach, that those around him are encouraging him to pursue it and that Jones is enamored with the idea," Werder said

If the Cowboys want Sanders as their next head coach, they'd have to spend roughly $10 million on just his buyout alone. Only time will tell if Jerry Jones is willing to pay such a steep price.
