Tony Stewart, Wife Announce The Birth Of Their First Child

Tony Stewart and Leah Pruett welcomed the birth of their first child over the weekend.
Stewart has taken Pruett's spot driving in the National Hot Rod Association during her pregnancy. Before Sunday's NHRA Finals race at Pomona, the three-time Cup Series champion rushed home to be with Pruett.
On Sunday, the Tony Stewart Racing Nitro shared a photo of Stewart and Pruett with their newborn son, Dominic James Stewart. The post said Pruett and Dominic are both "doing great."
However, Stewart didn't stay in Phoenix for long. The 53-year-old flew back to California in time for Sunday's race.
"Only Tony could pull off qualifying, rushing to Phoenix to make it in time for the delivery, then back to Pomona Dragstrip for race day, the post said.

Stewart returned to a warm ovation from his fellow crew members. And don't worry. Based on Pruett's Instagram post from earlier this week, she appears to approve of him leaving the hospital.
"This year's Finals is wildly different for me as it will be the first race I've physically missed being at in almost a decade," Pruett wrote. "I know our teams are going to go hard to finish strong this season, and I'll be rooting them on somewhere close to home hoping this baby comes any day now, and not Sunday of the finals so [Stewart] can make it."
Per FOX Sports' Bob Pockrass, Stewart joked weeks ago about trying to keep busy to avoid some unpleasant tasks of parenthood. But he knows Pruett won't let that fly.
"I'm trying to find every and any way I can to get out of having to change diapers," Stewart said. "But my wife is a very strong-willed woman, and she has assured me that I am not, under any circumstances, getting out of these responsibilities as a father and a parent. And I don't blame her. It's part of it."
