Meet The Oldest Son Of Tom Brady (1:16)

Tom Brady didn't turn into a legendary NFL quarterback overnight, but critics didn't afford him much of an adjustment period to the broadcast booth.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion received unflattering reviews after his FOX debut. Observers were kinder to his second go-around.

Brady worked his second Dallas Cowboys game two weeks into his new job. While a 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints went far worse for America's Team, viewers applauded Brady's considerable improvement.

"He's been loose, confident and informative during the first half of Cowboys vs. Saints," Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports wrote. "Much better game telecast so far by Brady and [Kevin] Burkhardt on Fox."

"Tom Brady much more assertive early as compared to first quarter opening week," The Athletic's Andrew Marchand said.

"Tom Brady is already wayyy more comfortable and natural in the booth this week than he was in Week 1," sidelined reporter Vanessa Richardson observed.

"I regret to inform you that Tom Brady is offering good, non-cliched insight in doses today," Guardian's Ollie Connolly wrote. "He sounds comfortable and confident and like he may even be enjoying himself."

Brady appeared to heed Scott Hanson's playful advice to show more excitement. He praised Derek Carr for "dropping a DIME" on a 70-yard touchdown pass to Rashid Shaheed and gutted three increasingly enthusiastic "Ohs" as CeeDee Lamb evaded Saints defenders for a 65-yard score.

FOX took a considerable risk when giving Brady a 10-year, $375 million contract to take a new job without prior experience. He replaced Greg Olsen, one of the NFL's most respected color commentators, on the network's primary coverage team.

Brady performed much like the NFL's rookie quarterbacks in Week 1, but his swift progression is an encouraging sign for his future in the booth.
