The 10 Fastest Players In The NFL (1:31)

ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. yelled at a few clouds today by declaring on Get Up that he wants to see the league outright ban teams from playing safeties two-deep during games. His longtime colleague Todd McShay was not amused by the take.

Taking to X on Thursday, McShay admonished Kiper for his take and joked that it's a good thing he's not part of ESPN anymore.

"He's lucky I'm not "in the building" anymore! What are we talking about??" McShay wrote.

McShay is far from the only football person who has torn into Kiper over his take about safeties. Just about everyone has ridiculed him, calling him out for everything from his reasoning behind wanting the position regulated to the way the game has changed to necessitate it being the way it is.

"Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Rodgers, etc etc, all played 2 high safety defense too. Didn't stop them. Sorry modern QB play just stinks and you're too afraid to admit it. Let's make defense play with hands behind their back too!!" one user remarked on the original Get Up video on X.

"Maybe teams should have a run game," another user wrote.

"Just what the league needs, another rule hampering the defense. How's about the offense schemes better?" wrote a third.

Not a great day for Kiper's credibility.
