Tim Tebow typically sticks to sports, though in recent years, he's been making some important statements.
The Heisman Trophy winner, who also played in the National Football League and pursued a career in professional baseball, is one of the most beloved athletes of his time. Tebow, who is married to a former Miss Universe, has been putting a lot of time and effort into his charity. It's an important one.
Tebow's charity, The Tim Tebow Foundation, aims to serve "those who are hurting, marginalized, and trapped in darkness in 86 countries and counting."
Over the years, Tebow has made some appearances on Fox News, sending a scary warning to Americans.
Tebow warned Americans that child trafficking is much more prevalent than some might think. He's warning Americans about what's really happening.
The legendary Florida Gators quarterback has been fighting this battle for a decade. His dad was able to purchase the freedom of some little girls overseas.
"We've been in this fight for over 10 years, since my dad was overseas and able to purchase the freedom of four little girls and I just knew that day that I was called to fight for the most vulnerable and that's what we're trying to do and we're fortunate to do that in 90 countries around the world to fight for the MVPs: the world's most vulnerable people," Tebow said.
Tebow shared some scary stats, too.
"In the last 12 months, there have been over 500,000 unique IP address that have downloaded and shared child sexual abuse material. On average that 55-85 percent of those that are downloading and sharing it are also hands on offenders," Tebow said. "That means that there are hundreds of thousands of boys and girls that are being abused, that are being hurt, that are being exploited and we have to do something against them."
Tebow has said it's the "worst evil" he's ever seen.
"We found that it's not 20,000 kids that are unknown or unidentified, it's over 50,000 boys and girls through the backlog that are unidentified in these global databases," he added. "There are so many boys and girls and 65% of them are under the age of 12 and 4.3% of them – that's 2,100 – are infants."
Tebow is working to fight the child trafficking industry, which experts believe is a $150 billion industry.
It's important, noble work by Tebow.
