In case you were wondering, the Caitlin Clark effect is still very real.

With Wednesday's news that the University of Iowa plans to retire her No. 22 jersey at Feb. 2's game vs. USC, ticket prices went crazy.

Per On3.com's Kyle Huesmann: "In the span of 40 minutes, the cheapest ticket to Iowa WBB vs USC went from $200 to $784, with a bunch of tickets listed for over $1,000. Incredible."

Clark starred at Iowa for four seasons from 2020-2023 where she finished her college career as the all-time leading scorer in all of Division I basketball, with 3,951 points, before being drafted first overall by the Indiana Fever back in April.

"Caitlin Clark has not only redefined excellence on the court but has also inspired countless young athletes to pursue their dreams with passion and determination," Iowa AD Beth Goetz said in a statement. "Her remarkable achievements have left an indelible mark on the University of Iowa and the world of women's basketball."

"Retiring her number is a testament to her extraordinary contributions and a celebration of her legacy that will continue to inspire future generations," Goetz continued. "Hawkeye fans are eager to say thank you for so many incredible moments."

Few athletes have had the type of impact on women's sports that Clark has. Her feats as a Hawkeye not only launched her into superstardom but brought a ton of eyes and attention to female athletes everywhere.

"I'm forever proud to be a Hawkeye, and Iowa holds a special place in my heart that is bigger than just basketball," Clark said in response to the special ceremony. "It means the world to me to receive this honor and to celebrate it with my family, friends and alumni. It will be a great feeling to look up in the rafters and see my jersey alongside those that I've admired for so long."
