This is one of the busiest times of the year to fly, as millions around the globe are traveling for the holidays. Unfortunately, it's proven to be one of the most dangerous times, too.
In the span of about 24 hours, three passenger planes around the globe have crashed. Three different countries have been home to plane crashes over the past 24 hours, with more than 100 people having died.
The most significant crash took place in South Korea. A Boeing 737-800 jet reportedly crashed in South Korea on Saturday, killing all but one person on board. There were reportedly 181 people on the flight.
The plane tragically burst into flames on the runway.
The crash in South Korea wasn't the only one of the weekend.
A plane in Canada was forced to crash land in Nova Scotia on Saturday, too. The Air Canada DH8 plane reportedly had faulty landing gear. The wing ended up scraping the runway during the crash landing. There were more than 70 people on the flight, but it sounds like everyone is OK.
"The plane started to sit at about a 20-degree angle to the left and, as that happened, we heard a pretty loud — what almost sounded like a crash sound — as the wing of the plane started to skid along the pavement, along with what I presume was the engine," one passenger told CBC.
"The plane shook quite a bit and we started seeing fire on the left side of the plane and smoke started coming in the windows."
Elsewhere, a plane in Norway was also forced to make a crash landing. There was reportedly a malfunction in the hydraulics system of the plane.
